Dark, earthy woodland. Tall trees standing like vertical bars against a muddy walkway that leads the visitor thought the environment, it keeps the visitor “on track”. The inclusion of artworks in the environment draws the viewer into the trees to explore further.
The walk is enclosed by a tall, stone wall covered in moss which shields the visitor from the road outside, including a large wooden gate that is nailed shut.
Around a bend and the walk opens up to rushing water and a small marsh, wildlife is sparse and silent as the group pass by a still heron to look at a pair of heron sculptures.
Small birds are mostly found singing in the gardens, which feel a world away from the woodland walk.
A sense of exploration for the visitor, be it their first time or their first time encountering the works in the woodland. The mysterious quiet of the trees.
